The control system of the new fire dampers in the Tauerntunnel and the Katschbergtunnel in Austria are connected with a redundant fiber optic solution from eks. Altogether 126 eks fiber optic systems of the model LCON-R were installed in the Tauerntunnel and around 85 similar systems in the Katschbergtunnel. This technology is now used in more than 40 alpine tunnels in Austria and Switzerland and allows the reliable control of the fire protection dampers for exhaust air suction.
